By car
If you're travelling to the Island by car, you have a choice of car ferries:
Southampton to East Cowes (via Red Funnel)
Portsmouth to Fishbourne (via Wightlink)
Lymington to Yarmouth (via Wightlink)
If you're wondering how to find us, don't worry. Tapnell Farm is easy to reach by car, by bus or on foot, with convenient links to the ferry terminals at Newport and Yarmouth. Here's how to get a head start and plan your travel, so you can focus on making the most of your visit.

If you're travelling to the Island by car, you have a choice of car ferries:
Southampton to East Cowes (via Red Funnel)

Foot passengers can also use the car ferries. However, the following foot passenger routes are quicker:
Southampton to West Cowes (via Red Funnel's Red Jet high-speed ferry)
Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head (via Wightlink's FastCat catamaran)
Southsea to Ryde (by hovercraft with Hovertravel)
All passenger routes connect to public transport.
1. Leave Newport on the B3323, following signs for Carisbrooke.
2. Go straight ahead at each of the three mini roundabouts to reach the B3399 (The Middle Road).
3. Continue along The Middle Road for just over 7 miles, until you see signs on the right for Tapnell Farm.
During summer, Southern Vectis operates the Summer Links open-top bus service, which stops at Tapnell Farm. It runs between Newport and Yarmouth. *Download the timetable here.*
1. Leave Yarmouth on the A3054, following signs for Newport.
2. Take the first right onto the B3401, signposted to Ventnor.
3. The road joins Wilmingham Lane. Carry on until you reach the T-junction with the B3399 (The Middle Road).
4. Turn left at the T-junction, following the sign for Brighstone and Newport.
5. Follow the road for just over 1.5 miles until you see signs for Tapnell Farm on the left.
Important: please ignore the first turning signposted 'Tapnell'. This is a residents-only entrance.

From Yarmouth Bus Station, you can take bus services to many other parts of the Island, including Alum Bay and The Needles. View the routes here.
There is a taxi rank at Yarmouth Bus Station, next to the Wightlink ferry terminal.
It's easy to reach Tapnell Farm on foot by walking the popular Tapnell Trail. This six-mile circular route runs right through the farm.
You can start the walk at the estuary crossing next to The Causeway in Freshwater. This links up with the old railway cycle path, which leads to Yarmouth.
